Personality: Murugan is the name of the Hindu god of war, and this big boy was named appropriately. Coming from a long line of dogs that fought wolves in the defense of their masters, Murugan is fearless, bold and brazen, with a thunderous bark that shakes intruders to the core. He can put up one hell of a show at the fence, barking and charging like a caged animal. But, if released, Murugan often proves that his bark is worse than his bite. He is not aggressive, simply cautious and territorial with a stubborn tendency to only let strangers enter his domain on his terms, not their own. When he does not trust someone, he will often growl and block their path, but has never snapped at or bitten anyone without being commanded. Of our two central asian shepherds, he is the one capable more of restraint. He's a smart, observant young man, able to tell that humans are intimidated by the mere sight and often finds little reason to distrust them too badly. Instead, he simply remains weary and vigilant, often sticking close to new comers to keep an eye on them but rarely bothering them. He is terribly aloof and not at all affectionate, though he is gentle and tolerant, allowing handlers to fuss over him if they desire. He simply does not seek out attention very much and prefers the company of the pack over human companionship. He is very well connected with our horses, being their primary guardian, and often accompanies riders on trail rides, whether they like it or not. His role as a guardian does not end at the property line.

Breeding Status: Restricted (Mountain Dogs only- ie. Akbash dogs, Tornjaks, Caucasian Shepherd dogs, Tibetan mastiffs, St. Bernards, etc. )
Be sure to read our breeding rules completely before requesting a litter.
